I recently completed my Master of Business Administration (Finance), during which time I had the opportunity to work as a graduate assistant and tutor students in math.I had the privilege of working with students of all ages with diverse needs in mathematics.These experiences ignited a passion in me for teaching students and a greater love for my favorite subject, mathematics. Instead of pursuing a career in business or finance I decided to pursue teaching and was recently licensed by the State of Missouri with an Initial Professional Certificate to teach Mathematics for grades 9-12. Although I have only been teaching in a classroom setting for the last two semesters, I have spent a great deal of time teaching friends and fellow students over the years. I am very patient and able to adapt to the student with whom I am working. I am a firm believer that learning, and learning math especially, is not a spectator sport and that a great deal of practice is required to fully understand most material. I enjoy working with students to help them to achieve their goals. I am patient and flexible. Not everyone learns in the same way, so I like to work with individuals to discover what method works best for them. I have been tutoring students of all ages for over 20 years. I am a graduate from Pittsburg State University with a Bachelor Degree in Psychology and about to graduate in May 2011 with another Bachelor degree in Recreational Therapy. As a working professional, I was driven later in life to get a degree that was started right after high school. I initially had 90 course hours towards a Social Work degree, and when I returned changed it to business. I have a BS in Business Management, and I only have one class left to get my Masters(MBA). This has allowed me to have a vast bit of working experience in math and accounting. I have exceptional grammatic skills, due to weekly submitted papers in each class.
