My strongest suit in my teaching style is probably the many ways that I would approach teaching a certain principle. If the student does not understand one way to approach a problem, I try to best to help them understand and learn another way. I feel like since everyone learns differently, a tutor should approach a problem from as many angles as possible. My teaching style is also very patient. I suppose the saying "give a man a fish, feed him for a day, teach a man how to fish, feed him for a lifetime" would apply to my style. I try to make sure the student understands the principles behind the type of problem and not just how to do the one problem. That way, if they see another problem like the one they just learned, they can apply what the learned and do the second problem.

I first assess what the student feels they know, then look at what needs to be learned and from that I build a goal-oriented task set that should result in a learned skill set. I am also very good at thinking outside the box in order to get the skill set learned and to effect "true learning" as opposed to parroted learning.

I am a licensed physical therapist in both Georgia and New York. For as long as I could remember, I have dreamed of becoming an educator. I earned my B.S. in Biology, with minors in Kinesiology and Psychology and went on to earn my Doctorate in Physical Therapy.
