I have experience as a volunteer tutor in social studies and math, a paid tutor in reading, a student teacher, and as a substitute for the last year and a half. My teaching style revolves around the specific learning needs of students because each person not only learns differently but has specific strengths and weakness. I tutored for one year at Garden City Community College in College Algebra, English, and History. I attended 15 hours of tutor training. I also have worked with children who have severe emotional disturbance in learning social and cognitive skills, as well as improving their self-confidence levels.
My teaching style is to listen to what the person needs help with, and then to ask them what they already know about the subject.
