I am a graduate student. I have a Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science. I plan to apply to medical school the next application cycle. I have five younger siblings who were home schooled. I have tutored most subjects in both in middle school and high school. My most recent experience was tutoring psychology and spanish at the college level. I do not hold a teaching certificate, but I do love to teach. I always adapt my teaching style to fit the student. I am willing to do just about anything to help a student learn a subject, so long as that student is as dedicated to learning it as I am to teaching it. My teaching style is whatever best fits the student. When working one on one with a student I practice a few different methods of teaching and whichever one they feel the most comfortable with and I receive the most attentiveness from, is the one that I continue to use. For example, some students prefer that you walk them through a lesson, go over a few practice problems and then let them work on assignments, knowing that they have you to assist them when needed. Others might want to jump into the assignment and when a question arises, they ask you to refer to the lesson to help them find the solution. Beginning as a teacher assistant while earning a Bachelor's degree in journalism from the University of Missouri, I have helped others learn the tenets of writing for mass consumption.
