Experienced Tutor with Expertise in Math and Social Science

My teaching style varies for each student, I try to tailor the work to how the student learns.
I have been tutoring students of all ages since I was in high school. I began by tutoring my own peers in math and social studies. I would also tutor children from 1st grade on up in all subjects. Once in college, I tutored college students and younger in many fields, primarily mathematics courses. My specialty quickly became preparation for standardized tests as well as calculus because I have a unique ability to discover how each student learns and tailor the lessons to their needs. I can quickly find where the knowledge gaps exist for each student and fill in those gaps, in order to create a complete understanding of the topic, not just get them to memorize answers.

A Little Bit About Me...

As a graduate of Berea College, I was given an opportunity to utilize the skills I learned at that institution. I have earned a bachelor degree in Psychology, which help me hone the statistical and research knowledge I now have. I am going to continue my work in psychology to work toward my master's degree at EKU in general psychology. I not only have an educational background in statistics and SPSS, but I have utilized my skills in several research projects and have helped others understand statistical concepts and how to use SPSS. I was a teaching assistant for several psychology research classes at Berea College for a year and a half.

I graduated from Ohio State with a Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering. During my High School career, I tutored many of my friends in Trignometry, Physics and Calculus. During my college years, I had a broad exposure to Math and Science. I volunteered at the Chemistry and Math lab few hours a week to help students with basic college level chemistry and math courses.

A Little Bit About Me...

As a student at MIT I earned my BS and MS degrees simultaneously in a five-year period. I worked primarily in the oil industry with major geological responsibilities on the Alaska North Slope and the North Sea. I have published over 50 technical articles and papers in my field. After my oil industry work I taught high school physical science in Kentucky for 10 years, including earth and space science, physics, and chemistry. I founded and coached the Berea Community High School Academic Team, to district and regional championships.
