I enjoy working with children and get a kick from seeing a discovery or understanding in a students eyes. I've had the opportunity to collect numerous bio. samples for hands on experience. I have also taken workshops in the workings of google earth as a teaching tool along with mapping and watershed principles.I feel I have benn successful in elightening many student's lives.
I started teaching in 1970 as a K-8 substitute, continuing until being hired by a private school in 1975. I then taught full time in East LA. Upon moving to Wa. and being certified here, I taught in several schools in differing cultural settings untill recently starting my own business in Newport. A Little Bit About Me...

I enjoy helping students succeed in math. I talk to the student to find out what the student's strengths and weaknesses are. Then I try to relate what they are learning to a skill they have already mastered. I believe students need to know the practical applications for what they are learning. Many of the practical applications come from my financial and woodworking background. I want students to understand the process for solving problems before using and relying on a calculator and to be able to tell if their answer is reasonable. To make math more fun, I like to incorporate their interests into the math they are learning when possible.

I enjoy teaching kids of all ages and get along well with them while maintaining a degree of respect from them. I am capable at keeping them on task, even with challenging personalities. I enjoy doing hands-on work as well as print focused work. I have developed patience working with my own six kids in our home. I believe strongly that one-on-one tutoring is the most effective way to help a child achieve and any child will do well when the teaching is tailored to their needs. A Little Bit About Me...

As one of only 60 graduates in the Biochemistry&Molecular Biophysics program, I have extensive training in mathematics, physical/organic chemistry, and biophysics. My double major in Molecular&Cellular Biology couples biological systems and human physiology with the "harder" physical/chemical sciences. With over 5 years experience as a Medical Dosimetrist, I have only recently turned to more creative pursuits. I'm currently a freelance writer, composing print copy, articles, reports, web content, and e books. Most of my direct tutoring experience has been through college(I led many study groups), and through work (training med students), but I have also assisted my son and his friends throughout his (now 6th grade) scholastic career.
