As a graduate of the Southern Illinois University, I was very much driven to achieve a high level of excellence in education. I have earned two degrees, BS and MS in Mathematics, which has enabled me to gain an understanding in many areas of math and science. In addition, I have learned extensive grammatical skills due to writing research papers, along with essays in many various areas of study. During the last eight years I have tutored students in mathematics and science. I love teaching and working with all children. I believe all children can learn, but each in different ways. I received my MA in Statistics from the University of Pittsburgh in December of 2008. Since then I have been giving private lessons in statistics to undergraduate and graduate students. I also have given lessons in high school level algebra. Prior to going to graduate school I was a substitute mathematics instructor at Wilkinsburg High School. Prior to working at Wilkinsburg, I was the Apangea Learning Math Instructor for Penn Hills High School. While at Penn Hills High School I worked with students in subjects from basic math to college prep calculus and test preparation for entrance exams. I also have experience working with teenagers at three different summer camps, one of these camps being the Penn Hills YMCA. I am also a professional musician and a statistical consultant. I graduated with a degree in Physical Science Education, which gives me a strong background in Physical Sciences and in math. I have worked with children and youth of all age levels and nearly every ability. I ran an afterschool program for the Salvation Army, ran a boys home for troubled boys and worked in St. Paul City schools as a substitute teacher and a night teacher at an evening school. I also have worked six summers at a Salvation Army camp. Through these experiences I have worked with both gifted and special needs children and youth. I believe that all children have the capability to learn if someone is willing to be patient and work with them. I enjoy having fun with youth while learning and teaching those I work with the value of what they are learning.
