There are numerous reasons why a parent or guardian may want to hire a tutor. Perhaps their generally successful student is having trouble keeping up in math. Or maybe the child is having trouble focusing and needs someone to help them hone their problem-solving skills. Perhaps the student simply has poor organization or study habits. As a Ph.D. level student in Sociology (ABD) with all exams passed, I have 2 years of successful formal teaching experience at the college level. In research papers I have demonstrated excellent grammar and writing skills. My linguistic training includes 5 years of Latin all of which makes me a very language conscious person. I have tutored students in German, English, French, Sociology/Anthropology. Furthermore I have extensive exposure to Korean, Thai, and Japanese.
