PhD Physics, able to tutor in science, math, engineering

I was a senior scientist - engineer for 37 years. I retired to care for my comatose wife at home, and she died a few months later. This situation has left me open to new directions. My teaching experience has been 3 years as a graduate teaching assistant, and 2 years as a tutor to friends and family in science and mathematics. My goal is to show how math and science can enrich one's life and these subjects are nothing to fear.
I follow the method of G. Polya in his classic work "How to Solve It". I started by tutoring other students in trigonometry and calculus in high school. In college I continued to tutor other students in a variety of courses including general logic, chemistry, physics and English. I have an extensive background in physical sciences: BS in Chemistry, extended coursework in geology and a minor in physics. When my children started in school, I would go to their elementary school classes and teach basic physical science concepts. I determined class plans and did a series of activities with my son’s second grade class discussing molecules, states of matter, density and finishing with a discussion of geology. A Little Bit About Me...

I will work with the students and find where out where they are weakest. By doing so I will be able to give them the knowledge required to understand the material they are struggling with instead of teaching them how to solve the problem at that moment which will prevent them from struggling with mathematics their entire school career.
