Denver Summer Scholars - Lead computer tutor - Taught 3 classes a day with 15 students in each class. I used computer software to tutor students in math and language arts. My students were ESL at Risk students. Tree of Knowledge - I tutored 15 students during the 2011 to 2012 school year in Language Arts and Math. My experience begins with ASL 1 and 2 in high school, followed by ASL 3, 4, and 5 in college. I have also taken Deaf Culture, Linguistics of ASL, Deaf Education, and a Fingerspelling, Numbers, and Classifiers course,having a wide range of knowledge of the Deaf community. I find out what exactly the student is lacking in the subject by asking a few basic questions on the topic and make a judgement of the student's understanding on the topic and then proceed forward. I normally explain the concepts in diagrams so that it makes it easier for the student to visualize the problem and give the student plenty of practice problems for him/her to work on to make their understanding better

A Little Bit About Me...

When I graduated college I found myself wanting to help others. I began doing this by counseling youth who had substance abuse issues. For a time I also worked with the youth at a homeless shelter. Helping them with homework, ESL studies, and math skills. The youth there were a variety of ages and backgrounds, so I had to adapt my style to their needs. My education allowed me to focus on child development and the various stages of cognitive development. This helped shape my ability to help a variety of age groups based on their level of understanding.
