Retired Elementary Teacher- 25 years experience!

I have a wonderful relationship with my students. I am highly motivating and want my students to have fun while learning. In addition, my true love and concern for children is sensed by my students and they genuinely love me. Therefore, they will please me and do their best work to make me feel proud. The relationship that I and your child will have will be based on mutual respect, and I will ensure that your child's academic specific needs will be my focus. Each child has a different way to learn. As a trained and certified teacher I find ways that my students can grasp the concepts and learn. I believe that concepts should be learned first on a concrete level, using hands on strategies. Once they "get it", we can move on to more abstract ways to understand.
I taught Early Childhood and Elementary school, grades Pre-K through 5th, in the Houston Independent School District for 10 years. I mostly taught 1st grade. It is amazing to see them progress and learn, from non readers to readers, from non writers to story writers. Since I moved to Baton Rouge I continued tutoring children struggling academically in the areas of Math, Reading, Language Arts, Spanish, and Social Studies.
