Elementary and Middle School Tutoring

One on one tutoring style--I provide one on one tutoring sessions that include the use of a variety of instructional strategies including worksheets, workbooks, sight words, vocabulary, Venn diagrams and charts, flash cards, compositions and educational websites. Group tutoring is available that would involve using the same instructional strategies, but the instruction would take place in a group setting of 2 or more students and could involve the Jigsaw method which involves all students collaborating together to achieve academic skills.

I try to keep the material fresh and I avoid boredom and repetition at all costs. One of my best tools to connect with a young person is through humor. If the student feels relaxed they are more likely to absorb the information. I also use reverse psychology to turn the tables so they actually find themselves teaching me the material. A Little Bit About Me...

After graduating with a dual degree, I taught in Texas for 27 years in the fields of English, Geography, Health/PE, History, and Math. I have presented multiple times on the state level in math. After moving to Pensacola, I have tauht two years in the Florida K-12 sytem, presenting in Tallahassee in an area social studies conference, and three years in the community and junior college system.
