I believe in interactive learning. Students learn best when they are in a safe environment, which I can provide. A Little Bit About Me...

I began to realize my love and aptitude for tutoring as a volunteer Japanese instructor for the Daikin home-stay program in 2006. The next two years I volunteered my time with Rosie's International Services tutoring Spanish. At the beginning of the Spring 2008 semester, the Head of the Foreign Language Department, Dr. Maier, submitted my name to a tutoring department at UAH, where I worked tutoring Spanish, Japanese, Latin, Chinese, and English as a Second Language until I graduated in Spring 2010. Although I do not have an education degree nor teaching certificate, I was hired as a part-time Spanish teacher at Austin High School 2010-2011, where I started an informal Japanese Culture Club.

As both salutitorian of my high school graduating class, and a Chancellor Scholar at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, I have the drive, determination, and know how to succeed on any academic playing field and compete with the best of the best. I have a BS in Elementary Education with an emphasis in music. After ten years of teaching experience, I consider myself an excellent candidate to tutor in many subjects, including but not limited to Reading, Writing, Mathematics, Music (both vocal and instrumental), and Music Theory.
Being that I have spent the majority of my teaching career in a high needs environment, I can honestly say that I teach to the student. However a child best learns is the way in which I teach a subject.
