I work at the level of the student and I like setting goals with my students to create motivation. I am good with different teaching methods, whatever works best for the the student to learn. I have been a tutor for over four years now. I work with all ages, at Sullivan Learning Company I work with K-8th, at Clovis High School I worked with high school students and I have done Spanish tutoring on my own with adults. I also teach Sunday school so I am accustomed of working with both individuals and big groups.

I am a senior in High School. I am a cross age tutor for Freshmen and Sophomores mainly tutoring in algebra 1 - Geometry. I also attend the Center for Advanced Research and Technology. I babysit on Tuesday and Wednesday at Northpark Community Church and help kids with their homework. Mainly with reading and penmanship. I used to be really bad in almost every subject availiable. And my parents hired a tutor for me. Once she taught me shortcuts and explained the process to me, I started to understand. I love working with kids, when they have a problem I have them write it on a white board or on a separate sheet of paper. Then from there I have them ask questions about the problem. I'll be honest. My "students" from the past have told me that during the time when I was actually sitting down and tutoring/working with them, they didn't even notice that they were actually doing the work. What I do when I try to make the "students" learn is to make them see what the books are trying to say to them through what we see through our eyes, in our world, every day. For example, if the book says: 7 - x = 4, I would be telling the child/adult, "Imagine if you had 7 dollars in your hand." I would then ask them, "How many do I need to take away (subtract) for you to have 4 dollars?" When working with the lower kids, I even use the actual objects and lay them on tables in front of me and show to them so they don't have to use their imagination to figure it out. I have taught students in grades K through 12, but I find that teaching elementary students to be the most rewarding. Although I have taught students of all ages levels, my primary experience has been teaching kindergarten and working as a reading specialist with students in grades two and three.
