A Little Bit About Me...

I have always enjoyed tutoring students and seeing them "get" the subjects we are touching on. The look on their face during this moment is priceless. I fully understand that everyone learns things in different ways. While one student may be able to memorize and understand facts one way, say by repetition, another student may learn the information by understanding the background and context that it comes from. I am very patient and flexible with students and realize that if they do not understand the material that it is not their fault, but rather I need to try a different approach with them. A good education is not only valuable in life, but I feel that students gain self confidence when they see their grades improve and they actually understand their class work. A Little Bit About Me...

As an engineering student, I scored A's in 4 Quarters of Calculus, 3 Quarters of Engineering Physics and 1 Quarter each of: Linear Algebra, Differential Equations, and Static and Dynamics. Throughout college, I often tutored other classmates in math, physics, and statics and dynamics to which they and other upper-classmen would marvel. "wow, you really understand this don't you?". My 64-year old Physics professor pulled me aside one day and said I should major in Physics because in his 40+ years of teaching in Germany and the US he had never seen anyone who understood it as I do. I like instructing using the latest visual tools. I like to make math alive, taking the abstractness of calculus and transforming it into something that is visual. I enjoy working with gifted middle school or high school age students.
As a graduate of F.A.U, I was very much driven to learn programming and prograaming languages, applying Mathematics and Algorithms to real time problems. During my 30 years as a consultant I taught several classes related to game theory and applied Calculus. A Little Bit About Me...

I have a degree in Math and I am currently 3/4 complete for a Masters in Elem. Education w/Certif. I have been a substitute teacher for 2 years, w/1 long term sub teaching position of 3 mos at the elem level, and 1 long term sub position of 6 wks at the high school level in Algebra, Geometry, and Advanced Geometry. I have 4 children who have all taken advanced Mathematics classes, with my occasional assistance. I spent almost 30 years writing and managing government technical proposals for the computer industry. I also spent time tutoring two children at the third and sixth grade levels. I taught Religious Education as a volunteer at the pre-school, kindergarten, third grade, and high school levels.
