A Little Bit About Me...

I have always enjoyed tutoring students and seeing them "get" the subjects we are touching on. The look on their face during this moment is priceless. I fully understand that everyone learns things in different ways. While one student may be able to memorize and understand facts one way, say by repetition, another student may learn the information by understanding the background and context that it comes from. I am very patient and flexible with students and realize that if they do not understand the material that it is not their fault, but rather I need to try a different approach with them. A good education is not only valuable in life, but I feel that students gain self confidence when they see their grades improve and they actually understand their class work. A Little Bit About Me...

I love teaching and working with children of all ages. I believe in encouraging children to discover what they are to learn instead of rote learning for most things, and I also believe in establishing automaticity for some tasks, such as math facts and geometry theorems. I believe that all children are capable of learning with the right approach. It is important to persist in teaching a concept from different angles until the child "gets it." A good educator can make a world of difference to a child. I am a strong proponent of reinforcing a child's strengths through positive encouragement and exhibiting an enthusiasm for the subject at hand to foster interest on the part of the student.

I like instructing using the latest visual tools. I like to make math alive, taking the abstractness of calculus and transforming it into something that is visual. I enjoy working with gifted middle school or high school age students.
As a graduate of F.A.U, I was very much driven to learn programming and prograaming languages, applying Mathematics and Algorithms to real time problems. During my 30 years as a consultant I taught several classes related to game theory and applied Calculus. Upon my graduation from high school, my calculus teacher, who had noticed my natural aptitude for mathematics and my ability to help other students to understand it, referred some younger students who had been struggling to me for tutoring. Due to my success with this first student, or rather, the student’s new found success in his math courses, my former teacher referred another student to me the following summer. In subsequent years, while I was pursuing my education, many friends and fellow students, asked me to tutor them in various topics ranging from college algebra, to statistics, to calculus.
