A Little Bit About Me...

My passion is sharing my knowledge with others. I studied at Kent State in Kent, Ohio. While at Kent I earned a Bachelor's Degree in Exercise Science, and a minor in English with extensive course work in business. Following undergraduate study, I ventured on to complete a Master of Arts in Physical Education. My concentration was Therapeutic Recreation with a focus in gerontology. I taught a class during my graduate assistanceship and acted as a teaching assistant to three professors.
Me teaching style is similar to my leadership style, democratic. I like to have students explain what they are thinking when approaching a problem. This way, it is possible to determine where the breakdown may be. Examples, definitions, and sometimes taking a step back can make a significant difference when attempting to move forward. A strong base is vital.

A Little Bit About Me...

I firmly believe that every child is capable of learning hard concepts, they just have to be taught in a way that is applicable to them. So I first like to get to know the student and try to figure out their learning style and teach them according to how they learn. This helps me figure out where the root of the problem is so I can fix it. Then I like to use a lot of visual and hands-on lessons because children need that to really grasp concepts and to apply it in different situations. I also like to question them to lead them to come to the answer and concepts themselves in order to increase their curiosity, desire to learn, and self-esteem.
