I believe in using the environment and the interests of the child to teach any subject. It is important to capture the interest of the child so they are motivated to learn. I have always loved working with children and can work with children of all levels due to growing up with an autistic younger brother. His disability has taught me to be patient and open-minded with all children. I understand that all children have a different way of learning and it may take time to identify a child's learning style. I am very observant and so I can quickly pick up on how a student will learn best. I understand that some children aren't fortunate enough to have a support system to help them through school and to take time to teach them. A Little Bit About Me...

I am a graduate of Western Illinois University, and I am excited to be starting my teaching career. I have earned a bachelor degree in Elementary Education and have received my teaching certificate for Elementary (K-9). I have been teaching in a pre-school for the past three summers while I was finishing my schooling. I have had the opportunity to work in many schools while finishing my degree. One program that I really enjoyed volunteering my time in was America Reads. I was able to tutor students in reading and help them to become better readers through this program. I am very committed to my career and plan on pursuing a master's degree in the near future.
