My comments on tutoring Drawing : For the greater part of my life I have been deeply interested in art in all it's phases and have had a mumber of original works published as full page covers for the arts section of "Seven Days" - a weekly newspaper published in Burlington VT. I have participated in Open Studios frequently in both Vermont and Florida.

For the greater part of my life I have been involved in various facets of education. I have acted as substitute teacher at the middle and high school levels for a total of 10 years, 8 of which were spent at 12 schools in Vermont and 2 at 10 schools in Hernando County FL. Once while subbing, I entered a classroom where the students had been allowed to watch Jerry Springer on TV for the last two weeks. I couldn't let this continue, but I saw how emotional the class was about the show. I encouraged them to write their own talk show and told them we would perform it the next day. I find that connecting student's interest with the subject matter to be learned is the best way to teach.
After completing my undergraduate degree in English Literature at Florida State University, I worked as a substitute teacher in Hillsborough County for two years. In 2009, I completed my Master's Degree in Communication at University of South Florida while simultaneously employed at the Department of Special Education. I have been tutoring with Advanced Learners for 1 year and am currently an Adjunct Instructor of Public Speaking at HCC Dale Mabry.

A Little Bit About Me...

As an artist I am a visual learner, so I teach in that manner. I like to first teach the fundamentals of art such as perspective and proper proportions, how to draw from life, and a great understanding of color theory.
