My favorite part about teaching is the moment that something "clicks" within a child's mind. I am a problem solver naturally so I try to lead children down a path of discovery instead of just teaching the answer. I believe this helps children gain an understanding of how things work or why they are a certain way so that they are able to apply these same processes to other problems.
I have earned two bachelor degrees, BS in Business Administration with a concentration in International Business and BA in Spanish. I have 10 years of professional experience involving customer service, Spanish translation, tutoring, and training. Having wanted to teach since I was a child, I pursued my degree at UNC Wilmington and graduated magna cum laude in May 2010. I now teach at Duplin Early College High School and am finishing my first year of teaching. I cemented my desire to teach through various part-time jobs as a college student: tutoring special needs, substitute teaching, tutoring in writing, mentoring middle school students, and as a camp counselor.
