A Little Bit About Me...

My favorite part about teaching is the moment that something "clicks" within a child's mind. I am a problem solver naturally so I try to lead children down a path of discovery instead of just teaching the answer. Being a mother of teenagers gives me an edge as a teacher. I have tremendous patience and understanding of the daily lives of young people. I try to make my students feel comfortable and safe in my classroom, if a student does not feel comfortable, they will find it hard to open up to a learning environment. My philosophy is learning does not have to be painful.
As a mother of three teenagers, i decided to go back to school and fulfill my lifelong dream of becoming a high school English teacher. I could not imagine myself doing anything but helping young minds grow to their fullest potential. I am highly qualified in the area of writing. My 10th grade students have an 85% proficiency rating for the NC writing assessment. I also teach Graduation Project that requires an 8-10 page documented research paper.
