I have teaching certificate and have been substitute teaching. I have 2 Masters degrees,in Mathematics and Education. I have taught at Sylvan Learning Centers and at 3 Community Colleges. I can work with students of all ages. I enjoy helping others learn and will ask a lot of questions to be sure my students understand the material. I will provide examples and explain the concepts, then have the students work out a few similar problems to be sure they understand.

I like starting with the given information and stepping through the processes to solve a problem. Reminding them of, or even showing them, the rules, properties, and examples in the book. I normally try to find the method that best works with each pupil, then highlight on that. I also make sure not to do the work for the student. I will sometimes come up with a similar problem to work through so they can see what's really going on within the problem. I have tutored Algebra through Calculus I and Elementary Statistics for the last three years. 1.5 years at both Wichita State University and Washburn University. I'm currently working on a second Bachelors degree in mathematics, but this time with an emphasis in Actuarial Science. This mixes calculus, algebra, and statistics, along with some business classes, into one, keeping them fresh in my mind.

I believe the best style, especially for tutoring, is to practice a lot. However, what make my teaching style successful is that when a student of mine does not succeed I can go through step by step and explain where he or she went wrong. Then we try again.
