I consider myself to be a "beginner" teacher as I have recently graduated college and received my license. I have spent roughly 500 hours in the field as a result of college course requirements, and I have successfully completed a 12 week internship (student teaching) experience. I have had the opportunity to work in many different subject areas and classroom settings with students of various backgrounds, ages, and learning styles.
I try to take a hands-on approach to teaching when possible. I find it helpful to use varied and often unusual objects and materials when teaching a lesson; it tends to make the material more memorable. However I am not above using the standard pencil/paper/textbook approach when needed.

Elementary Grammar is one of my top subjects! I have taught elementary grades for over 15 years.

My teaching style is to engage the student as much as possible and to utilize as many senses as possible. I will often use a "game" to practice a skill. When teaching a skill, my emphasis is understanding "why" something is done a particular way rather than stressing straight memorization.
I have taught "students" from age 3 to age 73. Most of my experience has been in elementary classroom situations, but I have tutored individual students, taught computer skills to business classes and senior citizens, as well as business technology classes in a community college. I graduated from high school in 2005 and was 12th in my class. Out of high school, I worked as a pre-school teacher with children ages 1-8 years. I attended Ohio University Athens for Speech Therapy for four years and am now finishing my undergraduate degree online. While in college, I took many child development courses and english courses because I find both to be so much fun to learn about. I also took classes in Math 1, Pre-Algebra, Algebra and statistics. I know work full time as an administrative assistant at a line construction company, so I spend several hours a day typing and working with programs such as Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and Power Point.
