SOAR Study skills Group Sessions coming Spring 2013

The gift of teaching, advising, coaching, communicating and motivating was realized early in high school by school administrator of mine. After earning my Bachelors degree in Education in 1988 I taught GED,ESL,ABE, and advised law students while running the library. I am a life long learner and have taught in prisons,(state and federal)(1988,1997-1999), public schools(1988-2007),private (1992-1998), and home schooled my own son (1992-2000). I have been certified to teach in 6 different states and taught Internationally at a private boarding school(2007-2009). I earned a Masters degree in Organization Management and continued educating myself in a vast array of academic subjects.

My comments on tutoring Speaking : Have presented numerous times in front of large audiences (250+ people), as well as small groups. Have lots of ideas for managing performance anxiety.

I use the didactic teaching style, trying to keep teaching/education engaging and fun. Rather than talking AT the student, I explore WITH the student the subject at hand. Sometimes the round-about way is the most direct way to solve the problem.
