My comments on tutoring Earth Science : I did very well in this subject, and wrote and prepared multiple studies, papers, and conducted extensive research into various aspects of Earth Science, with a particular interest in tectonic plates and their impacts on our society.

I have mentored various people since 2000, in all types of subjects, including math, science, social sciences, English, writing, literature, and other related subjects. My academic record is very strong, and I believe empowering those I work with every single time. The only pre-requisites are that you have to be willing to learn, and learn how to learn.
I like to use the Socratic method, mainly by asking questions and challenging assumptions. In addition, I like to engage those I teach, challenging them to think about what they previously have not considered. After earning my teaching degree in English, I gained some middle school and high school teaching experience, then took a different path for some years. While earning my master's degree in reading education, I gained experience by helping teach children at Western Carolina University's reading clinic in Asheville. I have done some individual tutoring on my own, while searching for a position in my field. As an avid reader myself, I know the value of a sound reading ability. I try to instill that love of reading in my students.

My passion is teaching mathematics. After a single year of retirement I missed teaching so much that I now either teach or tutor at three locations. In the classroom I have a casual, informal style that is more like a conversation with my students than a formal lecture. In my experiences I have found that children learn in many different ways.
