I am 23 years old and strive for excellence constantly. I currently have two jobs and a child. I work hard for my family and make sure that I do my best in everything that is put in front of me. I have made it through high school and college. I have worked with younger children as well as older children. I like to be challenged and will learn with anyone and everyone I work with. Through all of my work related experience, teaching has been the one thing that I loved and felt completely comfortable doing. I believe that every child can learn, but that they often need individual attention and a variety of strategies and techniques used in order to find the one that fits. I teach most often in an investigations approach, learning through experience and experimentation. I believe this hands on learning helps to cement information in a person's memory. I believe that all teachers should be life-long learners. All teachers should be informed on new best practices and be knowledgeable of current educational policies. These are the reasons that I belong to TESOL and the International Reading Association. In addition to belonging to these organizations, I have continued to pursue new knowledge by attending graduate classes at the University of Kansas. After I received my Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction in 1994, I continued my studies and received both my reading specialist and ESL endorsements.
