Very patient. I have felt firsthand the difference that a patient tutor can make in the journey of learning a difiicult subject. I have two children at home that I am always teaching. During high school, I often tutored anyone who needed it, particularly in the Anatomy and Physiology classes. I have taken 4 years total of A & P between high school and college, and have passed each course with an "A". English has been a very strong subject for me. I took Advance Placement classes for college credit in HS, and received the highest score on my exam in the school.I thoroughly enjoy tutoring children.

I use a combined demonstration and discussion style for lecture and introduction of topics to be studied. Labs are a demonstration followed by a monitored hands-on work experience. I integrate reading and computational skills into my subject matter and use contemporary internet sources to supplement all content items. Practice assignments are designed as reinforcers for the most important skills and topics of the lesson. Homework is for quality, not for quantity. Testing is always followed by analysis and reinforced correctives. Good tests become learning tools. Upon receiving my BA, I began a 26-year journey in high school and college education. The reason I became a teacher was to transfer my love of music to my students and also to see the joy of their successes. There is nothing like seeing the smile of success on a students face. I care greatly for all students that I have taught and will teach. I first started to study music when I was 11 years old. I grew a love for the clarinet and played for many years in middle school and high school. In college, I majored in clarinet and also studied all wind/percussion instruments as well as piano. I obtained my BA instrumental teaching degree (K-12) through Western Carolina University in June of 2003. Through the years, I have had the privilage and pleasure of teaching band in a classroom setting, marching band, and private lessons.
