As a wildlife biologist for 15 years, I spent a good portion of my career giving presentations to a wide variety of audiences and educating people one-on-one about environmental issues. I have both Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees. I recently underwent a program through the Department of Higher Education to become certified to teach 7-12th grade science. I student taught 9th and 10th grade and have been substitute teaching at all grade levels. My oldest is a national merit scholar finalist, and my youngest son is captain of his high school math team. Math is fun, like a puzzle-once the student sees this fact, they begin having more fun and less fear of the subject.
I am a patient teacher, and I use many different ways of communication. I try to find the style of learning best suited to my pupil. Removing the fear of the subject seems to be the most important part.
