A Little Bit About Me...

Teaching for me is a calling. My reward is watching my students grow academically and socially. As a lifelong learner, I seek to ignite a spark for self-discovery in my students' lives. I have experienced firsthand how the arts have helped children grow, providing them with academic and personal success. I know that with the right evironment, structure, and guidance, a child is able to reach for and exceed their potential. I posess a Bachelors Degree in Finance and a Masters Degree in Education. I have been able to successfully combine these two areas in school environments as well as corporate environments. I first determine the student's learning style so I have an idea what works for him or her. Learners who have experienced repeated failure need successful experiences to help build self-confidence; I start with what they can do successfully already. Knowing the individual's interests and talents helps me tie the topic to something important to the student, and to help them understand how the topic relates to their present and future lives. Finally, helping the individual understand how she or he learns is the key that will allow him or her to take control.
