I graduated from Augustana College with a BA in Math/Computer Science and Education and Northwestern University with and MBA in Marketing and Policy and Environment. While my initial jobs were with corporations in systems, marketing, and planning, I found I used my teaching skills on a daily basis by applying mathematics and computers, doing research and writing reports, organizing and preparing plans, teaching individuals and groups, making presentations, conducting reviews, and continuing to improve my personal and technical skills. Ten years ago, I decided to become a full-time teacher and went back to school to obtain my teaching certificate in Secondary Mathematics. I also taught Russian 101 at the University of Virginia for two semesters as a teacher’s assistant. I taught English as a Second Language through Black Hawk College for two semesters, and I taught infants and toddlers at Best Beginnings preschool and child care center for 2 years and 5 months. I have earned a bachelor's degree in Russian Language and Literature, a master's degree in Russian Linguistics, a second master's degree in Russian Language and Literature, a certificate in Arabic Language, and an associate's degree in Elementary Education. I have experience teaching many different age groups, cultural and ethnic backgrounds, learning styles, etc. I know what it takes to learn, because I have done it before, and I take what I have learned and apply it to teaching.

I'm a student at Augustana College whose academic record has ranged from public school to home schooling to community college and and even private education. I've worked as a tutor for over 2 years at Black Hawk College, at the same time obtaining an Associates Degree. Throughout those years I've encountered many special needs students and many bright students, tutoring in subjects ranging from English, Math, Social Studies, to Computer Science. I believe the best way to learn is peer-to-peer learning. As an auto-didact I have the study skills necessary to regurgitate information as taught by the current institutional models. This is an uncreative and highly unnatural way to learn. There's a reason no major discovery was made in a classroom -- true innovation, discovery and learning is an organic process.

Since my elementary years I've always been a student driven to succeed and pursue higher levels of education. Recently I've graduated from Iowa State University with a Bachelor's of Science in Civil Engineering which has enabled me to gain an understanding in many areas of math and science. I can also speak and handle any questions in Spanish at an intermediate level. Furthermore, I served as a junior mentor in the CADS (Center for Alcohol and Drug Services) after school program, tutoring and leading the kids in organized fun.
