When I was a freshman in college, I knew that my future was in my hands. I befriended and contacted my chemistry professor and zoology advisor. I worked in both of their labs, and I was only a freshman! By studying in their research groups, I gained the experience necessary to intern at Sea Life Park Hawaii. In fact, I was published in 2007 after working for Dr. Charlie Cox in the Chemistry Department. Recognizing the need for more hands-on research experience, I found another opportunity with another professor in cellular biology. In addition to conducting this research, I co-wrote the research proposal for the Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program. This was an honor, for we were awarded funding for the project!

Since middle school, I've been tutoring younger students afterschool as a service to my community. With about 12 years of experience tutoring, I have found various ways to make learning easy and fun. My education background includes graduating with honors from highschool, a Chemical Engineering degree from Purdue University, and a teaching certification in the State of Hawaii.
