I graduated from the University of Nebraska at Kearney with a BA in Spanish Translation and Interpretation and English. During my last two years, my Translation and Interpretation professor selected me to translate and interpret for the Buffalo County Diversion Program. Also during college, I tutored college students through the Center for Academic Success in Spanish and helped the students write and edit their paper (all disciplines). After graduating from college in 2007, I pursued my degree in education, and I have taught 7-12 English and Spanish for the past eight years. Additionally, I obtained my Masters degree in Education in TESOL in 2012 from Grand Canyon University.

I worked as a University Lecturer in the University of Yangon, Myanmar from 1977 to 1987. I worked as a private home tutor in Singapore (1992-1993) teaching G.C.E chemistry and elementary subjects and also in Bangkok, Thailand from 1993-1995. I received a certificate of "TESOL-Teaching English to speakers of other languages" in Bangkok. I also worked as a part time instructor in ECC Thailand teaching ESL. I worked as a Business English teacher in Hotel Management School and St. John's College in Bangkok while I was staying there before I came to U.S. in 1996. Prior to and during my employment with Metropolitan Community College (Between 1998 and 2007) I was a volunteer tutor with non traditional students in the Adult Basic Education/General Education Development ABE/GED program of Metro community college. I love to see the proverbial light come on and the students eyes widen and they say "OH! I get it!" I've tutored a wide variety of students from diverse backgrounds. I try to make mathematics fun, like a puzzle to be figured out, and remove the "hard chore" stigma which is generally hard pressed into a students mind by the time I arrive. Getting the student to believe in themselves and believe mathematics isn't a daunting task it's just difficult until you learn the tricks is my goal. I've notice most students find word problems to be most challenging so I purchased a word problem book to draw examples from which seems to help.
