Encouraging & Patient Elementary Tutor

I have grown up around kids my whole life. I am the oldest of four kids and my mom has a day-care in her home. I always thought I wanted to be a singer until I decided my junior year in high school I need to pick a more stable job. I took an internship my senior year of high school where I spent half the day at school and the other half as an intern in a Kindergarten class. I loved it and knew I wanted to teach for the rest of my life. I went a private school in Indiana and graduated in 2015 with my degree in Elementary Education and a minor in Special Education. A Little Bit About Me...

I taught in the Cloverleaf Schoolistrict for 9 years. I spent the first 3 years teaching as a building sub in grades 1-6. I spent 6 years in first grade teaching all areas including math, science, reading, phonics, and vocabulary. I was very active in the community as well, helping with coaching, announcing and tutoring at the elementary level.
I believe in using a sense of humor to help develop a positive rapport with the students. I spent a lot of time developing vocabulary and using phonics to help the students build fluency in reading.

A Little Bit About Me...

I have been teaching professionally since 2011, and have worked in various other childcare/education positions before that. I have taught preschool, ESL, and Title 1 Reading/Math for grades K-5 since 2011. I currently work in Woodridge Local Schools and teach ESL students online. I currently teach at a Christian School and I am an intervention specialist. I have been teaching since 2003. I started my career as a tutor, then I taught first grade for three years, I went back to tutoring until I finished my master's degree in special education.
