Different students have different 'keys' to learning. I utilize a flexible approach which seeks to 'unlock' the potential in each individual student.

I started tutoring students middle and high school prior to graduating college. I have taught part-time college students at various institutions since 1996. I solve problems. I am a bioanalytical chemist and biomedical engineer. This profession requires using math, statistics, biology and chemistry at a high level on a daily basis as I develop products that improve healthcare. I have taught or tutored science and math from elementary to post-college level for over 25 years in diverse settings.
Student-led and interactive. No lectures. No drudgery. I focus on the process of solving problems. Restate the question. Draw diagrams. Figure out what information is missing. How can I get that information? Can it be calculated or is an estimate good enough? What sources are reliable?

A Little Bit About Me...

I graduated with a Business Degree, currently involved in Master's of Teaching Mathematics program. During my college I helped tutor many students with a variety of needs, mainly math and science. This lead me to develop passion for tutoring. I believe any child or student can be helped, it is a matter of process. A Little Bit About Me...

I have always been gifted in mathematics, and I feel that is is my duty to help others achieve the success that I have. I earned a BS from Bucknell University in mathematics and I am now working towards a PhD in statistics at NC State University. I have taken education courses and I have worked with professors to run "gifted and talented" mathematic courses for students.
I have always found that the best teachers are the ones who are able to explain the same concept in a variety of ways, so this is what I seek to do when teaching. Coming from the influence of a family of educators, I realized early on my affinity towards teaching. In addition to my college degrees, I have been very involved in the 'summer camp' experience.
