My comments on tutoring Reading : I have a MA in English and I have taught college level composition (English 101 and 102). I currently teach high school Advanced English.

I have a BA in English and Creative Writing. I received a MA in English Literature in 2005. I began my teaching career at Calhoun teaching English Composition 101 and 102. I have since been teaching high school (for 8 years) and currently am teaching honors 10 and AP Senior Lit. and Comp. at a local high school. English is my life! ha! I am extremely well read and very well versed. I know what it takes to score well on standardized tests and how to write "A" papers.
I guide the student to his or her understanding of the material. I do not feed information. I ask that the student come to their own conclusions.

My personal style of learning is to learn by doing. Before I start tuoring a child, I like to get know them first. I think it's important to build trust with a child before jumping in and telling them what to do. A child will be more likely to accept help from someone they know rather than a total stanger. I like to make learning fun.
At Birmingham-Southern College, I was the News Editor for the college newspaper for two years. In addition, I have a minor in Journalism.
