I have a BA in English and Creative Writing. I received a MA in English Literature in 2005. I began my teaching career at Calhoun teaching English Composition 101 and 102. I have since been teaching high school (for 8 years) and currently am teaching honors 10 and AP Senior Lit. and Comp. at a local high school. English is my life! ha! I am extremely well read and very well versed. I know what it takes to score well on standardized tests and how to write "A" papers.
I guide the student to his or her understanding of the material. I do not feed information. I ask that the student come to their own conclusions.

A Little Bit About Me...

At Birmingham-Southern College, I was the News Editor for the college newspaper for two years. In addition, I have a minor in Journalism. I love to write and I feel that this is one of my strong points. I also tutor two young girls every Wednesday afternoon at Girls, Inc. of Central Alabama. I help them with everything from writing, to reading, to math and history. I am also working on my Masters Degree and will graduate with a Masters Degree in Counseling in 2011.

A Little Bit About Me...

Many children struggle with classroom learning because they require a different learning method than the one being offered or more direct attention than a teacher of 20+ students can offer. As a dyslexia therapist I was instructed in a number of different approaches to teaching and how to match each one to an individual student's needs.
