I initially ask the client their preferred method of learning. If they are unsure, I try different approaches in an effort to find one that fits. I find that many people lack confidence, particularly in math. I try to build confidence in the student so that he or she will have faith in their learning ability, both now and in the future.
I developed an interest in tutoring during the beginning of my sophomore year of college, when the math department needed calculus tutors.
