I attended Middle Tennessee State University from spring 1993-fall 1997, graduating in Dec. 1997 (B.S. degree). My major is art educ., my minor is secondary educ. My teaching license was in art educ./K-12. I was a member of The Gamma Beta Phi Society, the top 15% of my class. My gpa was 3.2 and I won two scholarships. I did my student teaching at the Lebanon High and at the Las Cassas Elementary Schools in fall 1997. I taught art at Mt. Juliet Elementary School, and taught private adult & children’s art classes at An Invitation to the Dance studio in Murfreesboro and at the Murfreesboro Art League. A Little Bit About Me...

The key to being a good teacher is being patient. I believe children learn best in a positive and stress-free environment. When a child does good on the work then I praise them and if they make a mistake then I explain to them the error in the homework. When I was a small child, I remember my teacher being patient and helping me along the way. I feel that although children learn in different ways and different paces that being patient with children is a universal and effective teaching style.
I am currently a Senior at Western Kentucky University majoring in Creative Advertising with a minor in Computer Information Systems. My life has been changed by art. As a child I took art lessons and learned that creativity is much more than making art. Creativity is a way to train your mind to think outside the box. Creativity can be applied to communicating and problem solving in many areas. I come from a family of educators. As a member of the Art Alliance I mentored fellow students on their work and helped them create a cohesive body of work and their artistic voice.
