Experienced and successful teacher in English language arts.
I have five years of teaching experience, including teaching kindergarten students, students who were English language learners, and fifth, sixth, and seventh grade students. My focus has been in reading and language arts, and I have attended several Uncommon Schools trainings for close reading techniques and writing and vocabulary strategies. My previous background and work experience was in writing, and I enjoy teaching students about the different forms of writing, including creative writing, literary analysis, argumentative, and informative. Since I started my teaching career working with students in kindergarten, I deeply understand the foundations of literacy. My experiences with students in middle school has also helped me understand and realize the connection between a strong foundation in English language arts and how it develops in middle school.
