A Little Bit About Me...

I have seventeen years of experience teaching all subjects to all grade levels to students who qualify for the Learning Disabled, Physically & Health Impiared, Attention Deficet Disorder and ADHD programs. As an intinerant teacher I moved from elementary schools to high schools tutoring students in all subject context areas, while providing hands on individualized learning to meet the needs of the students and their disabilities when necessary. This approach provides technology, group learning and one on one learning when necessary for the students to meet their maximum capabilities in school.
My approach to teaching are always individualized to meet the needs of each student.

My teaching experience began in high school, when I would review and edit my classmates essays. On several occasions, I also went through essays line by line. In addition, I taught swim lessons to preschool aged children, and helped coach crew to high school aged students. Throughout college, I continued to aid my peers with their essays, and often participated in workshops outside of class. As a writer, I have extensively studied methods of teaching to English Language Learners, and native speakers alike. I have also conducted research in rhetoric studies and language acquisition. The method of teaching used will depend on the subject and student. As a general rule, I prefer method of explanation, demonstration, and drill. The person being tutored must have a desire to learn. This can be fostered in children by explaining how they will benefit from learning the material.
I am a Systems Engineer with a BS in Business and a MS in Computer Science. Systems Engineering involves getting disparate systems, equipment, and/or people to work together to accomplish a goal.
