I was an American Read tutor at two elementary schools. I worked with kindergarteners and third graders to enhance their reading skills. In a one on one setting with approved books and kept them on track will goals that we set to meet each each. While I earned a bachelor's of science in Zoology where I took human anatomy. I have also tutored my younger four siblings through school.
I get to know the student first and see how best he/she learns. and go from there. I have worked with so many different personalities that I have been able to help each the best I can with understanding and patience. Tutoring a subject that I also had to learn will make it easier to teach them the tools that I needed to do the same. I hope that by showing how I did and that it was doable that they too can do it.

I recently finished a double-major in college and maintained a GPA of 3.75. I took many education courses throughout my college career in obtaining my degree in Childrens' Studies. I have helped tutor in biology, earth science, social studies, English, algebra, reading, and Spanish.
I absolutely love working with kids and teens. I believe that all children want to experience success, but each might define "success" a little bit differently. I think patience and coaching are the most important tools in tutoring. Based on my experience, a rule or lesson is better retained if the student is vested in the answer by their own efforts. That being said, I like to give the tool, the hint, or the rule before I ever just give an answer: that way the student has an opportunity to learn the rule or remember the process for themselves while they figure out the answer. I would never, however, let a student stew in frustration if they could not come up with an answer on their own as that only puts up blockers and hinders learning.
