I am a College Student studying English and Politics

I was a tutor in high school for many elementary and middle school aged children. I am also experienced with writing papers, so I can help anyone who is writing for a college application or essay. I am a very quick learner, so if there is a subject I am not as familiar with I am willing to study it to help a student. My goal is to help students understand the context being taught, as well as teach them the importance of this knowledge. I have often used the phrase "When will I ever need this?" and I have learned later on in life that each subject is important. During my high school career I was frequently called upon to be a teacher's assistant. This was over fourth, fifth, and sixth graders the majority of the time. A Little Bit About Me...

I have experience tutoring individuals with ADD/ADHD, Dyslexia, and those who simply do not understand the work. For the past 4 years I have tutored students in all subjects in the 6th, 7th, and 8th grades. Also, I have a child who is ADHD with whom I assist while doing homework. I have been teaching social studies in Cabarrus County for the past 12 years. I am nationally board certified and have my AP certification in World History. This summer I will be receiving my IB training and will begin teaching AP world history in the IB classroom. A total learning experience

I believe every student can learn, and as a result incorporate a variety of learning techniques to address a variety of learning styles. A Little Bit About Me...

As someone who entered teaching later in life, I began where most of my education to that point allowed, as a social studies teacher. I taught 5 years as a middle school social studies teacher. Recently ,I added middle school math certification and taught middle school math for a year. My tutoring experience has primarily been working after class with my students.
My teaching style has been a product of working primarily with middle school kids. I believe that the hands on approach is the best way to reach these students. Using visual aids, manipulatives, foldables, and other materials provided can be extremely useful tools to reach them.
