Most math education is pure calculation. This is important, but becomes tedious. Many children can’t learn like a computer and thus lose interest or struggle. My approach is different. I focus on logic and fundamentals because all of mathematics is logically built on a very simple foundation that anyone can understand. This foundation is necessary but often neglected. I believe I can build this foundation in anyone. Mathematics also has a lot of interesting history, and I know a lot of stories. A well placed story of humanity is often emotionally helpful. As a University of Connecticut graduate, I was very driven by my passion for the sciences. I earned a BS in pathobiology with a minor in molecular and cell biology.
