I have recently completed student teaching and have earned my teaching certificate as an art specialist. I have had the privilege of working with a diverse range of students at different levels with varying abilities. I have had internships at the high school and elementary levels, with time spent both in the art classroom as well as the special education classroom. As a substitute teacher, I learned to manage an array of classrooms and assumed all duties of a regular classroom teacher. While working for a day camp, I organized and led activities for diverse students ranging from age five to fifteen. I try to understand the level of where the children are and build on that. I am patient, considerate, consistant, non-judgmental and feel it is not too early to start teaching or a child to learn. There is so much children can learn and we, as adults, can learn from them. I found working with young minds in different Early Childhood agencies is one reason for earning my Associate's degree in Early Childhood Education. I then wanted to expand my enjoyment and empower others by obtaining my BSW. I have wanted to be a Social Work ever since high school. I have also tutored at Lincoln Land Community College in the past. I also have done private tutoring for friends of our family and people that they know and have referred me. I have my Associates degree and am currently working towards my Bachelors degree in Secondary Education in Mathematics. I believe the biggest key to learning is finding a way for students to relate to the information. Getting to know the student and relating thier interests to the material at hand is key to making a connection. I also believe it is critical to remain positive and supportive with students. At some point every student becomes frustrated by material that is challenging to them. By being able to keep students in a positive state of mind and by keeping the material fresh and fun, students will be more willing and able to continue the learning process.
