My comments on tutoring French : I have 10 years substitute teaching experience primarily in languages - French being the most frequently offered language after English. I studied French at the Sorbonne and with Alliance Francaise both located in Paris.

For the greater part of my life I have been involved in various facets of education. I have acted as substitute teacher at the middle and high school levels for a total of 10 years, 8 of which were spent at 12 schools in Vermont and 2 at 10 schools in Hernando County FL. French is one of my top subjects! Since there are only three choices, "Expert" to me is native mastery of the language. Although not a native, I am very well versed in the French language, thanks to my love of both the language and culture. I lived in France for two years of my university, something that I would very much do again. French is a very complicated language, full of different nuances and grammatical rules that can really discourage a new French student (even advanced students !). Unfortunately there are a lot of programs out there that promise mastery of French in a couple months to even a couple of weeks! This is not correct, it takes time, dedication, and motivation to master a language. That is the beauty of language learning, the journey never ends. My goal with the student is to help the student stay motivated throughout their journey in the French language, to make sure that they stay at it even during the "plateau" phases of language learning. When I taught English abroad, I tended to make sure each student had a general understanding of the idea of what I wanted to talk about, and then helped them work on the context clues so that they could figure out for themselves what is being said in the target language (French). In a one on one tutoring scenario, I will be able to help the student's comprehension and we will be able to focus on details.

Studying French and Russian Studies at Stetson allowed me gain more than a grasp on those two languages, but insight to the cultures, an appreciation for and ability to interpret literature and poetry, a deeper understanding of history, geography, and politics as well as a desire to share all of this with others.
