Kendra V. - Fort Collins, CO 80525 (43.9 mi) - Social Studies Tutor - $27.50/hr.
I am a Love and Logic teacher; choice is the biggest driving force in my classroom. I give students the power to shape their learning and success by offering them choices, and using enforceable statements. My goal is that all students leave with a sense of accomplishment which has been shaped by them. A licensed educator for 13 years, I have developed a deep understanding of students and what makes them motivated to learn. I appreciate the challenge of developing strategies to refocus student learning and make them more accountable and actively involved. No two students learn and develop skills in the same way and I embrace that by using tools to engage students where they are and then pushing them to discover where they can be. I have taught middle school social studies and literacy and enjoy the complexity and creativity of middle schoolers.

I have 2+ years tutoring experience in all junior high and high school subjects, as well as 1 year teaching experience in literature. I am very interested in learning as well as teaching. I believe that the best way for students to learn is to discover it themselves, with some guidance from a knowledgeable teacher (me!). Socratic.

Mallory C. - Fort Collins, CO 80521 (45.2 mi) - Social Studies Tutor - $27.50/hr.
I believe in helping the child succeed by helping them to find their interests. I would love to get to know them so I can bring in different ways of presenting the information to them. I have been around teaching my entire life. My mother is a fourth grade teacher and I have loved learning how she likes to teach and how her teammates like to teach as well. I help her grade all the time and love getting to help the kids out when I am home from school. I started working in a church nursery when I was 11 and continued on until I left for college when I was 18. I have worked with age levels newborn-8th grade. I also had a job at an inflatable party place for two years. I have been a nanny for a few different families over the years starting in 2009. The past family that I worked with consisted of me helping them do their homework and getting them motivated. I am currently working on getting

Spenser R. - Fort Collins, CO 80526 (48.2 mi) - Social Studies Tutor - $35.00/hr.
I believe in success. There is no guarantee someone will learn on the first try. It's all about enjoying the learning experience and positive reinforcement. I also believe in humor and think that it can help a lot in peoples difficult situations. I have helped tutor AVID high school students when I was a senior at Cherry Creek High School. I enjoy helping the kids learn and believe that being a tutor would pay it forward since I had so much help from tutors. I always helped my friends out because I was in higher level classes than them some of the times. I also worked with tutors and know how much of a difference they can make. I'm currently studying at CSU and still work with friends on homework if they need help.

Dan Z - Cheyenne, WY 82001 (22.9 mi) - Social Studies Tutor - $36.50/hr.
I try to create a fun learning environment, ensuring the youth can ask questions, have flexibility at their learning speed and still master the material in ways that will stay with them. Depending on the subject area, I like to give hypotheticals, questions and real-world examples that will help achieve memorization easier. After graduating from Georgetown University in Washington D.C., I returned to Wyoming to work in politics and government. I have been asked to teach chapters on Government in the local high schools as well as teaching Sunday School classes locally in Cheyenne. I serve in the State Legislature as well as working in the community to help youth succeed in their goals.

S Ann E - Cheyenne, WY 82001 (25.2 mi) - Social Studies Tutor - $57.00/hr.
I have recently been introduced to the teaching field by substituting elementary students at the local school. Im a social-able person which helps me interact with the students better. Students feel comfortable with me because they think that I'm a outgoing person easy to relate to. I have patience with the students because I go at a pace that suits the students needs therefore it makes the students comfortable to learn. If they have a question I show them exactly how to accomplish tasks. I believe patience is a virtue to having success in the learning process of a student. As a graduate from the technical school of Rochester Institute Of Technology . Receiving my bacholers degree in Applied science with my focus in hospitality. I have become a very sociable person and have automatically adapted teaching well in college at RIT, I taught international students how to speak better english

Larissa K - Cheyenne, WY 82001 (25.6 mi) - Social Studies Tutor - $34.00/hr.
My tutoring began while I was studying at Montana State University. My Junior year I enrolled in a class that was based around community service and my role was tutoring middle school aged children. The tutoring was in a small group setting and was on any subject the children needed help in but mainly in reading comprehension. After college, I attended Via Lingua where I became certified to teach ESL. It was here that my tutor experience expanded. For 4 months, I not only taught night classes but tutored on a one-one basis with students who needed further assistance. After moving back to the U.S., I got a job at American Cultural Exchange at Montana State University. When I started here my first job was tutoring 3 students from Japan. In these sessions, we concentrated on everything from grammar and conversation skills to reading comprehension. Teaching is the greatest job I have

Each child that walks into my classroom deserves an excellent education from a caring and committed teacher. Each student deserves to work and learn in a structured, well-organized and comfortable environment. My responsibility as an educator is to provide my students with the skills they will utilize and apply inside and outside the walls of the classroom. As an educator, I must maintain a relationship of mutual respect with the students and allow them to express opinions and ideas in the classroom. The classroom should be a place for the exchange and acquisition of knowledge for both the teacher and the student. My goal as an educator is to provide all of my students the opportunity to gain a quality education that leads to a pursuit of higher education or an improved role in the workforce. I graduated Summa Cum Laude from Hardin Simmons University with a Bachelor of Arts degree i

James L - Fort Collins, CO 80524 (40.2 mi) - Social Studies Tutor - $34.00/hr.
In the past,I've taught ESL, Health-care Occupations & Opportunities, both MRI/CT Applications. I also worked for AOL as an on-line teacher/tutor/mentor in their Academic Assistance Center.I hold two cleared teaching credentials one for Vocational Ed.and the other for Adult Ed. These qualify me to teach GED,ESL and any health-care related class.
Currently,I'm working as a substitute teacher in Weld County, a grandparent mentor in Larimer County, as well as a part-time instructor at ELTC teaching courses in Medical Terminology and Phlebotomy. I like the students to learn how to learn. While I will guide them, test them and occasionally point them toward appropriate reference materials, I do not do the work for them....that's their job and the only way they will develop the appropriate learning skills, self-confidence and a thirst for knowledge.

Dana S - Greeley, CO 80634 (40.4 mi) - Social Studies Tutor - $32.50/hr.
I believe that in order to help a student you must first be able to connect with him/her. That could mean understanding a student’s background, researching the latest video games or playing softball after class. For example, several of the girls I worked with at the JEI Learning Center, spoke very little English. Often they got frustrated and just sort of shut down -- stopped responding. At first I tried to have them draw pictures but when that didn't work, I asked them to show me something from home. They folded cranes and strawberries out of the paper that I gave them. Though the exercise didn't help them understand verb tense, it did help build trust between us. After that, when they felt insecure or confused, I was less intimidating. While earning my bachelor's degree, I worked in several tutoring programs assisting students with reading comprehension and writing composition skills.
