My comments on tutoring Psychology : Got an A in both a high school psych class and college.

I decide how best the child learns before making a full plan of how to help them.
I am currently in college, attending Chabot College. I was recently in a 4 year college down in Pomona, CA for a quarter, Cal Poly Pomona, and in a couple of years I will be transferring Cal Poly SLO. I passed my high school years with A's and B's and have also been passing my university/college classes with the same. In high school, I tutored kids for free and a lot of them were in grades above me. Near the end of high school I started teaching younger kids through care.com. I absolutely love tutoring and I think it's amazing to watch a child's mind grow right in front of you.

In all cases, an initial assessment of both the academic level and the temperament of each student are necessary before I establish a particular style. Some students are comfortable with a quieter, more formal tutor, while others are successful with a more casual, animated tutor. In every situation, I look for opportunities to give positive reinforcement.
