I believe in Minimalism. I tutor Math from the point of view that the shortest path is the best path but everyone learns differently and finding the right method for my students is one of my main goals when tutoring. I teach students multiple ways to solve a particular problems and they get to decide which method works best for them, hopefully its the simplest method. Public School class rooms have 30 plus students and only one instructor. The low instructor to student ratio makes it difficult for more then one method to be taught leaving some students behind. When students feel they don't understand, they become self conscience of their perceived lack of knowledge making them less confident in mathematics which leads to procrastination on their homework . Besides finding the right method, another of my principle goals is helping my students grow in confidence. I want my students to enjo ... read more

Tutoring To Ensure Success

I believe that the best way for a tutor to assist the student is to adapt to the individual’s learning style. We all have different approaches to learning and identifying which method maximizing your understanding of the topic helps to not only gain insight into difficult concepts, but furthermore increases your interest in the subject being taught. I have tutored countless students since my middle school years and have found this method to be most efficient. I find that given both my experience and younger age, it is far easier for me to approach a student and help them learn to the best of their capabilities.

High school/college physics, math and Engineering tutoring

I have always enjoyed personal tutoring and TA experiences in the past. I firmly believe that teaching is a privilege, rather than just a responsibility. Teaching is about inspiring thinking and encouraging learning. As your tutor i will set goals for students to grow, and at the same time, allow the students to reasonably set their own long-term and short-term goals. I enjoy working with people in a relaxed friendly environment. I enjoy teaching, sharing and practicing mathematics, science and engineering. Schedule is flexible.

My comments on tutoring Logic : I am able to figure out Logic/Puzzle problems naturally, and is something that is basic for me to solve. I am a great problem solver in this subject. I use systems, clues, and strategy to answer logic questions.

A Little Bit About Me...

I have been teaching for over 20 years. I believe that they key to good teaching is connecting the lesson to the studnet's lives. If you can make it interesting and relevent to the people then you will be a much more effective teacher. When you teache history connect othe present. For example, when a teach about the plague I compare it to aids. This way students can understand what it was like for the people whoi went through having the plague and not only were they dying but they were condemmed as well. Good teaching is cnnecting to your studnets.

A Little Bit About Me...

I have been working with kids of various age groups for about a year now. As of now, I am involved with Breakthrough Sacramento, which is non- profit organization that help underachieved Middle school kids to advance into great High schools in Sacramento region. I can work with groups as well as individuals and I am solid believer that every child is a winner, he/she just have to find his/her potential to be called a winner. I believe in slow, but explanatory method of teaching.Using fast pace learning or harsh words for kids is not in my philosophy. I am a very calm but energetic, patience but a true dedicator towards my job, which is making sure that each child achieve success in their respective fields.

I earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Indiana State University in the field of mathematics education, graduating with a 4.00 GPA. Since graduating, I have worked with students in several meaningful ways. As a classroom math teacher, a math tutor, a learning center instructor and director, and a high school adviser, I have a well-rounded amount of experience working with young people, especially teaching mathematics. I have also spent most of my adult life working with young people outside the classroom as a youth sports coach and a youth minister. My students often say I can’t be a teacher because they “just get it" when I explain. Even so, my degree is in math and I've taught professionally and privately. I have a history of maintaining high scores and would rather show why something works than how to follow steps. I don't expect students to love math or do it "my way" but I want students to know math isn't scary. To this end, I explain every step, do assessments to determine student needs and base instruction on student knowledge. If possible, I like to make sure students are comfortable working alone before I leave and will help students learn mental shortcuts, use a calculator and think logically. Overall I love watching students succeed.

I feel that I connect very well with math students of all abilities and ages. I quickly pick up on what aspects interest them and what areas that they dont connect to as easily. I make the material seem valuable to learn and help the students put it in an everday context. I focus on positive reinforcement and a step by step approach to solving math problems.
I earned my BS and MA in mathematics at Arizona State University in a total of four years. I also worked part time during that period so I am very motivated and a hard worker. I believe that students learn best when you are able to embrace and utilize what interests them. With that said, I don't have a standard way to tutor as every student is different. I believe in visual learning, so the use of activities and props are all a part of tutoring. Additionally, as someone who has gone through ... read more

I enjoy watching the “light bulb” turn on when a student or employee grasps a certain concept I’ve taught them. I have witnessed this rewarding experience many times throughout my career. I am patient, easy going, and considerate. My approach is to use real world examples or familiar analogies to help the student better understand a problem or concept. I have found this approach to be helpful while assisting my own daughter with her school work over the years. My goal is to help your child find academic success too.

I love the fact that, as an individual I can or could possible change the way kids learn. I usually want the child to feel comfortable, but yet show them who is in charge. Every child learns in different ways, therefore I am always willing to teach in anyway possible to get the child rolling in their studies. If a game or just using objects to help kids learn then we will do so. Every child is unique in their own way and everyone learns differently, no one child is ever the same. We all strive to be the best, but it takes time to be the best, therefore I like to take the time to get to know the individual at a personal and professional level. Their concerns are my concerns, but there is a student-teacher boundry that has to be set. Some rules will be established and learning will be done in a timely manner.
