To help a struggler in need!

I have tutored my little cousins with their homework before & also in summer camp activities with kids in general! I love to help out with anything I have knowledge in. My comments on tutoring Poetry : In undergraduate school, I took a variety of Poetry classes.

Instead of telling the student the correct answer, I prefer to help them understand why the answer is correct. With writing, there can be better ways to word a sentence or rearrange a paragraph and I try to help them figure this out on their own. That way, the next time they run into a similar issue, they remember how they improved their writing the previous time.
I received my Bachelor's Degree in Writing in 2008 and am graduating this May (2012) with a Master's Degree in Journalism. I worked as a English, Writing, and Grammar Tutor for two years at both my college and graduate school. I have had experience tutoring and writing a variety of styles and genres including creative writing, non-fiction, editorials, poetry, blogs, press releases, and feature articles.

I am a junior English major and Religious Studies minor at Rhodes College. I graduated from Harding Academy ('09), a school well known for its strong English department. The past two summers I have worked at Harding's summer camp as a counselor for first and second graders, so patience is definitely a trait that I have come to learn and appreciate. As language is universal and so critial in conveying ideas, I truly enjoy teaching others to express themselves verbally and in writing. I believe it is important to explain the value of a particular subject matter and give a detailed summary of what should be accomplished in the lesson. I utilize a rather formal teaching style, because language has specific "rules" as far as what is correct or incorrect and what is acceptable speech, as opposed to unacceptable slang terminology.

I love working with children. I have 3 of my own and I am currently studying for a Master of Science in Higher Education so that I can teach. I would love to teach college courses, but my main focus is teaching elementary students. I think it would be easier for me to tutor younger kids versus high shcool children. I have discovered that every students is capable of achieving greatness if someone will take the time and effort to learn their learning style.
