I have 11 yrs experience teaching in a California high school setting and 5 years experience as a tutor for ESL and for French at OSU, 3 years experience teaching English in France and lived in France for 7 years. While studying at Bradley University, I worked with the CHOICES program tutoring local disadvantaged High School students in core curriculum: History, English, Math, Science, etc. As a French tutor, I volunteered to help my fellow classmates learn the French language. French was my favorite subject in school and it definitely is my passion. I now use French daily in my career but when I first started taking it in high school, I had no idea how far it would take me. I would very much like to impart the wisdom and skills that I have learned to other students and help them achieve their goals. I'm a very patient and easy going teacher but I believe in having a good vocabulary and grammar skills, mixed with conversational skills. My teaching style is very versatile. I think the best way to teach is to first assess the areas that need the most work, and then devise a simple, logical approach to help the student understand the material. Some students learn visually, others learn by repetition. It takes a lot of adaptation to make sure the student really grasps the ideas.
I was the salutatorian of my high school class. I excelled in every subject, and was a member of the tutoring club. I also tutored my cousin, who has Down Syndrome, helping him with his summer school work, including literature, handwriting, math, and Spanish. I majored in Art at the Pennsylvania State University.
